DRUM LESSONS
in Oxford

Teaching for all ages and abilities. I cover a wide range of genres and drumming styles and place strong emphasis on the music, as I believe we are musicians first, and drummers second. I work with students, tailoring lessons to their needs and goals. Whilst I can cover all graded material, I am more than happy to help you learn how to play along to your favourite songs.

You don't need any equipment to get started, just an eagerness and curiosity for music and the drums.

For your peace of mind, I hold a current Enhanced DBS check and have completed up-to-date safeguarding training, ensuring a safe and professional environment for all students.

My son started learning drums with Noah a few months ago and has really been loving his lessons. Noah is a great teacher who cares a lot about his students. My son has selective mutism, and Noah has handled it with such ease and patience. He's learned so much and gained real skills in a short time. I'd recommend them to any parent, especially those with shy or anxious kids

I can’t recommend Noah enough! From day one, he’s been wonderfully kind, gentle, and brilliant at connecting with our child. He has a fun, engaging teaching style that makes them feel totally comfortable while giving them the space to be themself behind the kit. They come home buzzing after every lesson and is always eager for the next one. His setup is top-tier too—the studio features a double drum kit so they can play along together, plus a fantastic computer music system. As a parent, I really appreciate how he takes the time to catch up with me after each session, giving positive feedback and a clear summary of what they worked on and what to practice next. He’s truly got behind my child’s passion and built confidence quickly. If you're looking for a drum tutor, you’ll be making the best choice in Noah.

Noah is a wonderful drum teacher. My 9 year old son really loves his lessons. It's basically one of the highlights of his week. In each lesson Noah covers a variety of acitivites, from developing drum techniques and coordination, to rhythmic notation and listening. He also encourages my son to be creative and come up with his own rhythms. I would highly recommend!

My daughter started 1:1 lessons with Noah a few months ago, having been having drum lessons at her primary school with the county music service for a couple of years. His set up is great for learning - he has two drum sets so they can drum together in the lessons. She enjoys the lessons. He is kind, encouraging and enthusiastic. My daughter has made a huge amount of progress with his support and recently passed grade 1 with merit thanks to Noah.

Drumkit lessons with Noah are encouraging, inspiring and my teenage son comes away feeling like he is learning new things and improving each week. Noah has been working hard to enable him to really enjoy playing which is wonderful. He likes it that the set up in the music room means that they can both play at the same time if needed. Noah can record playing for grade exams which is great, and was kindly flexible in changing the lesson day when we needed to do this. We would without hesitation recommend Noah as a drum teacher to anyone!

Noah's an excellent drummer, but he's an even better teacher because he's an all-round musician. Our daughter loves learning the drums - and music - with him. We'd highly recommend.

Couldn't have asked for a better drum teacher for our eleven year old child. Excellent teaching ability. Responsive, caring, fun. And extremely patient! Noah not only guided our child effortlessly through Grade 1 exam, but instilled a real love for the drums too. Tailored lessons to suit our child's interests and music tastes. Always punctual but also flexible working lessons around busy schedules. Noah came strongly recommended to us, for which we're very grateful.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely not! I teach students of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you are 8 or 80, you can learn to play the drums at any stage of life. I tailor my lessons to suit your individual pace and goals, so being a complete beginner later in life is never an obstacle to getting started.
+
While having a kit is great eventually, it isn't necessary to get started. I have developed a wide range of exercises specifically for students who only have a practice pad or even no equipment at all. These techniques are designed to build your coordination and rhythm on any surface, and they are so effective that I use them myself to stay sharp whenever I'm away from my own drums.
+
I teach a wide variety of genres, including rock, pop, jazz, and funk, and I always tailor our lessons to your specific interests. However, I also encourage my students to explore a diverse range of different styles, rhythms, and grooves from around the world. Immersing yourself in diverse musical traditions makes you a more versatile player and informs your approach in ways that benefit every genre. No matter what specific style you want to perfect, exploring a wide variety of styles will ultimately make you a better drummer and a more well-rounded musician.

While I do teach and use music notation in my lessons, it is by no means a requirement. I focus heavily on learning by ear, which I believe is a vital skill for any musician. We can use formal notation as much or as little as you'd like, and I can certainly entirely work around it if you prefer to focus on a more intuitive, ear-based approach.
+
Absolutely. I can provide personalised recommendations for all of these and more based on your specific goals and budget. The best way to get started is to book your free trial lesson, where we can discuss your setup and find exactly what you need to move forward.
